Mount Athletic Director Shane Bell recently announced the permanent hiring of Victor Reich as head softball coach.

Bell emphasized Reich’s deep connection to the Mount and his unwavering dedication to the student-athletes.

“I could not be happier to elevate Coach Reich to be our Head Softball Coach,” Bell stated. “I've been impressed by Victor's passion for Mount Saint Mary College and his commitment to our softball student-athletes. Over the last nine months as the Interim Head Softball Coach, Victor has continued to build on the success that was developed by Coach Howe, and we are looking forward to him taking the program to new heights.”

Reich’s recent season was marked by notable achievements. He guided the Knights to an overall record of 15-22, and more impressively, the team secured an 11-7 record within the Skyline Conference, ultimately clinching the 4th seed in the regular season standings.

The latter half of the season saw the Knights finding their stride and winning 13 of their last 21 games. This surge in performance culminated in an 8-7 victory over St. Joseph’s Long Island in the Skyline Conference First Round playoff game. This hard-fought win was a highlight of the season, demonstrating the team’s composure under pressure and their determination to advance in the postseason.

Beyond team victories, Reich’s coaching also fostered individual excellence. Under his guidance, pitcher Grace MacDonald earned a coveted spot on the All-Conference First Team, a recognition of her dominant performances on the mound. Additionally, players Autumn Strobach and Grace Reich were both honored with All-Conference Second Team nods, highlighting the development of rising talent within the program.
