In just the last six months, Mount Saint Mary College has received a plethora of recognition from organizations around the country, which have named the Mount a top school in a variety of categories.

A top college locally and nationally

The Mount has once again been recognized by U.S. News Best Colleges rankings across several categories, both nationally and regionally. 

The Mount was named a top school in the national ranking of Best Undergraduate Nursing programs, reaching number 263. This represents a jump of 30 spots over the college’s ranking in this category last year. 

Mount Nursing students consistently score higher than the state average on the NCLEX-RN test, and they benefit from state-of-the-art simulation labs and learning resources, clinical relationships with dozens of area hospitals, and passionate faculty. 

On U.S. News and World Report’s comprehensive lists of top-tier regional universities for 2023-2024, the Mount was ranked in the best 100 colleges in the category of Regional Universities (North), coming in at 96. These rankings assess academic quality, including first-year student retention; student excellence; graduation rate; and more. The Mount is consistently named a top-tier college in these yearly rankings.

U.S. News and World Report also recognized the college in the category of Social Mobility: Regional Universities North, where the Mount was ranked in the top 70. This category measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. Students receiving these grants typically come from economically disadvantaged households. 

One of the best for Human Services degrees

The Mount was recently recognized by Best Accredited Colleges as one of the best Human Services colleges in the nation. 

The Mount was ranked in the top 40 colleges on Best Accredited Colleges’ Best Bachelors in Human Service Degrees list for 2023. The full ranking list can be found here

According to Best Accredited Colleges, the Mount was selected from a pool of hundreds of institutions across the country and ranked using data on financial aid awards, the quality of education, faculty, campus resources, and more.   

At the Mount, Human Services students learn how to work with groups and their unique needs, including adolescents, those with disabilities, and the elderly. Course highlights include: Sociology and the Family; Race, Gender, and Inequality; Theories of Social Casework; and more.

After graduating, many Mount Human Services majors go on to graduate school for Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, while others join the workforce right away at nonprofit or government agencies in mental health, disability learning and advocacy, elder care, and more.

Mount ranks high on Research.com

The Mount is proud to have ranked 26th in Research.com’s list of Best Value Colleges in New York for 2023-2024. But that’s not the only accolade the college received.

The Mount ranked 72 in the Best Colleges in New York Ranking, and 88 in Best Value College in the Northeast Rankings.

Research.com rankings are based on hundreds of gigabytes of data from renowned sources such as IPEDS and College Scorecard, as well as questionnaires submitted by universities, the analysis of 400-plus metrics for each institution, and a methodology that makes rankings more robust.

After receiving his bachelor’s and MSEd degrees at Mount Saint Mary College, Matt worked for the Mid Hudson Times as a reporter before returning to his alma mater as Director of Media Relations in 2012.
