Going blue for MSMC
Fundraiser earns $95k for scholarships, athletics, and more
The Mount community came together in a big way for this year’s Go Blue fundraiser, which earned more than $95,000 for a variety of scholarships and departments on campus.
A staggering 700 donors gave gifts to the college over the course of about two weeks, and the fundraiser shattered its $50,000 goal by nearly double. The funds will support more than 30 initiatives at the college.
Go Blue allows participants to support what they love about the Mount. From athletics teams to Campus Ministry’s Care Closet initiative, and everything in between, many areas of the college benefited from the generosity of its friends, alumni, faculty, and staff.
An alumna of the Class of 1973 generously offered a $10,000 bonus prize to the initiative that raised the most money. The winner was the Women’s Soccer team, which raised a grand total of $19,005. The Women’s Basketball team came in a very, very close second, raising $18,825.

Another $10,000 bonus was awarded to the initiative that inspired the highest number of unique donors. Fr. Greg Fluet, Interim President of the college, and Mike Horodyski, Chair of the Mount’s Board of Trustees, teamed up to donate the prize. This bonus went to the Men’s Basketball team, which inspired donations from 150 people.
Nikki Khurana-Baugh, vice president for Advancement at the college, thanked Go Blue co-chairs James Phillips, associate professor of Theatre, and Michael L. Fox, assistant vice president of Academic Affairs and associate professor of Business Law; as well as Fr. Fluet; Horodyski; and all who donated to the fundraiser.

Hitting a fundraising home run
Another highlight of the Fall 2023 season: The Mount Baseball team’s Spring Trips fundraising campaign raised more than $30,000.
Over the course of about a week, players reached out to family, friends, and Mount alumni, who offered their support to offset the Baseball team’s travel costs for the upcoming spring season as well as to purchase new team gear and equipment.
Each athlete wrote a personal message on their donation profile, where donors could select which athlete they would like to support. Most players exceeded their goal of raising $1,000 each, with Frankie Signorelli of Staten Island, N.Y. raising the most funds at $2,450.
During the months of February and March, the Mount Baseball team will head south three times for games in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida taking on the University of Mary Washington and Greensboro College, as well as participating in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
