Two Mount student-athletes put what they’ve learned in the classroom – and on the court – into practice at a pair of prestigious internships.

Shane Bell, a 2006 graduate of the Mount and resident of Newburgh, began his role as the college’s new Athletic Director in early January.

Freshman Gabe Hill shot a 75 and led the team to victory. It was the first time in Mount history that a freshman won his first start in his first match. But the fact that he did it with borrowed clubs that he had never swung before is what made Hill’s score truly incredible.

The Mount recently received a grant of more than $2 million from New York State’s Higher Education Capital (HECap) program for renovations to the college’s Elaine and William Kaplan Recreation Center.
